I want to let you all in on a little secret!
I ran a test on Rigworker.com If you are not familiar, it is a website where for a fee, they will send your resume to 1200 oil and gas recruiters.
I followed their system by submitting a "fake", but highly qualified offshore rig worker resume. I paid the fee and upgraded to a full member, and I followed their instructions sending 50 resumes a minute using their automated system. My resume included "fake" hotmail account for all replies from the 1200 potential employers. What was the result?
Of 1200 resumes supposedly sent by me through rigworker, I got 18 auto reply thank you messages, AND THAT"S ALL!
I'm not stupid. I know for a fact that if you send 1200 emails, you are going to get more than 18 replies. Hmm, I did not receive any bounces? no "could not deliver" messages? one vacation auto reply message? One real person did contact me and told me to contact someone else! Every other message was a canned auto-reply!
In summary, while rig worker may have sent my email to 100 companies, there is no possible way they sent my resume to 1200 email addresses of anyone.
My advice, do not pay money to submit your resume to any website.
